Adventure abounds!

The secret with this game is to look closely at everything. Read all the dialouge and point your mouse at things that look a little out of place in the background(you'll see what I mean). Some things are very small and you have to pay attention. This is qiute involved , and a bit like Westward but different. Don't rush throught the demo, take your time and you will enjoy the game.

Excellent Game!!!

When I tried this game, there was only one review, a two starred one at that. However, I was so excited to see a time management game instead of yet another hidden object game, I decided to give it a chance. This game is awesome! The map just keeps expanding for more and more areas to play and explore, and I think the person who left the first review didn't look for all of the tiny (and I mean tiny) collectibles on the screens. If you run low on money, collect some, and sell them for gold. The jump-to map is really great, and I love the exclamation marks over quest spots. All in all, a fascinating game, with a decent storyline and a surprising amount of things to do.

Finally a different game!

An awesome game, I'd keep playing for ever, it is very addictive. Finally something different! Finally! I almost don't even check in here anymore since I know it's all hidden object games or builder games. This one is more like a RPG however, but very different from others I played; you 'walk' through a huge map (new places become available only as game progresses) while on search for your kidnapped father; during your journey you'll have to do a lot of different things, mainly quests for other people you encounter along the way. There are several skills that you can learn and master (like fishing, hunting, herb and flowers collecting and so on) and also a lot of achievements from collecting things such as treasures, mushrooms, to becoming a soldier, making a lot of money etc. Plus, you can raise your 'popularity' with every task you complete (which in return unlocks other tasks and actions) Performing each action requires strenght, which you can recover by sleeping and eating. There are a lot of different types of every item (many kinds of foods/weapons/tools/potions) to either find, create or buy/sell. While exploring each screen on the map, keep your eyes open because you can find a lot of hidden things that you can click and collect but that aren't indicated (your cursor doesn't change so you have to click on every little thing you can recognize - eggs, golden eggs, mushrooms, lobsters on the shore, etc). I found this a lot of fun because some things are really little and hard to spot! It's not very challenging and frenetic, but rather relaxing, which I also find a good change (you don't always have to be in a rush to have fun!), so don't be surprised if it looks a bit slow at the beginning. I love everything of this game, it has so much freedom and variety, something I haven't seen in any game recently because they all always have pretty much the same dynamic (be them HOG or TMG). A nice fresh change! I wish there were more of these. And I'm GLAD I didn't pay attention to all t

Free form adventure

So this is a non-linear, task driven, strategy/adventure type game. You are looking for your lost/kidnapped father and must give and receive help from all types of people along the way while avoiding the bandits. I like this game and will be buying it. It's pretty free form in that you can choose who to help and what tasks to complete. I have to say I don't recall playing one exactly like it on BF to date. Of recent releases, most like Adelantado Trilogy but without the time pressure and levels. You can be involved in many tasks at once or none at all... The instructions are not super clear, but I didn't find it extremely challenging to figure out what to do. The story unfolds as you play and it's not always clear what to do next, but I like that it's not predictable and all laid out for you. I don't like how small the people / items / map objects are on the screen. It can make for some squinty playing... You reveal parts of a map as you proceed, but you do not proceed along that map in a straight line. You will go back and forth, completing tasks, acquiring items for people or helping them build things like a mill, fences. You may have to slay wolves and help heal others that have been attacked by wolves or bandits. Every time you help someone you receive gold, stars and other random items. You have to stop and find places to sleep in exchange for items or gold to recharge your energy (hearts). You can trade with multiple people for items you need. Also, you will find mushrooms and eggs on the ground along the way, but they are tiny so not very obvious at all. As your different skills increase, such as hunting, healing, etc..., more hidden items will be revealed and you will benefit from retracing your steps to find newly revealed items. I don't know far I've made it through the game since it's not laid out for you, but it still feels like the beginning to me after the hour trial.

Great Game

It walks you through everything and you need to look for hidden objects in the area like white dots are eggs that you can sell, mushrooms you can sell for money. It has challenges and achievements for you which keeps the game interesting and there are many levels to play.

Great RPG/Resource management hybrid

What a novel little game. This combines a simple RPG with some engaging resource management gameplay to produce something new and easy to get into. The narrative is a little hokey, but perfectly acceptable at the casual end of the genre. Looks gorgeous, but the music is a little grating so recommend you turn that off. There's some nice suprises along the way for "hidden object" fans too. Worth your time and money!

Ladyj

Hero of the Kingdom is by far one of my favorite PC games. I loved having to buy items to complete each task and be able to sell items to get more gold coins. It was to short. I went through it twice already only had it about 4 or 5 days. Please do more of these games. I just love love love it.

My kind of game ^^

This is a quest driven / Adventure game. Wish there were more like this one. Very relaxed , can take your time with it. The only reason it does not have 100% approval is a bit tricky figuring what you need at the start but most of the time it's fame. You have to watch your heart levels which require you to rest/sleep, which will cost you something. Some things to pick up aren't mark , like mushrooms to collect , they are just there on your screen to click. It's a game to pay attn to what you are reading to work it out. Be careful though some things will run out. I love this kind of game !

Thoroughly Enjoyable

There's quite a lot to enjoy about Hero of the Kingdom. Part adventure, part resource management, and even some hard to find objects to look for, the narrative of the game keeps moving right along through all the tasks you need to complete to get to the next one. You start out as a farm boy collecting fruit, progress through stages of learning, and end up working to take down the villains. You don't need any particular clicking skills, as nothing is timed and nothing requires speedy action. You will need to remember where things are or write key things down, but there are not so many as to be difficult to do. If you get lost, hints will tell you where to go for the main storyline. The challenge is in managing your resources. The visuals are nicely done with a style that matches the gameplay. The music is repetitive, but melodic enough not to be annoying. It's a fun world to explore for a few hours, with a satisfactory conclusion at the end of the adventure. Highly recommended.

Want more like this

I loved this game, once I got into it and "got" it. So refreshing. I am so bored with HO and Time Management. Casual role playing games are my new favorites.
